Five Common Website Downfalls

  1. Antique Information – When was the last time you reviewed your website content, or better yet updated it? Keeping your website content up-to-date should be your number one web maintenance priority. Nothing frustrates users more than logging on to find last year's pricing, dead links, or inaccurate contact information. PLUS, you want visitors to become repeat visitors – make sure there is fresh and interesting content to keep them coming back.

  2. Long Download Times – The amount of time your site takes to load is critical. If your web page, images and all, is not properly displayed within five seconds of a visitor landing on it, chances are that visitor is going to get impatient and move on. Don’t worry if your site is a slow loader - there are things we can do to help.

  3. Lack of Navigation Support – Need a GPS to navigate your site? The harder your visitors have to work to find the information they are looking for, the more likely they are to hit the road. Make sure your site is logically mapped and clearly marked, so your potential client can figure out where they are and where they are going.

  4. TMI (Too Much Information) – Long drawn-out paragraphs do not belong on the web. Why? No one has the time (or the desire) to read them. Less is more. In today’s fast-paced world, information must be succinct and easily accessible.

  5. Too Many Bells and Whistles – You want to engage visitors in a creative and intuitive manner. Don’t waste visitors’ time with irrelevant or wacky songs, animations, and functionality. Although it may get their attention, it will quickly become an annoying source of distraction. Keep interactivity simple and appropriate.
